Materials Science Quantum Working Group
About this working group
An international collaboration spanning academia, government labs, and industry, the Materials Science Quantum Working Group is dedicated to identifying realistic materials science problems that are well-suited to exploration on near-term quantum hardware. Its efforts center on problem classes—such as correlated electrons and lattice Hamiltonians—that pose fundamental challenges for classical simulation methods. By producing shared analyses and peer-reviewed research, the working group aims to foster collective learning and define credible pathways toward meaningful quantum applications in materials science.
